Summary

The Foresight Programme, within the Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills, works to provide visions of the future using robust science to be used by policymakers to inform government policy and strategy.

The Constructing Excellence Sustainability Team has been commissioned by the Foresight Programme to carry out a piece of desk research looking into the planning policy climate in the UK and abroad, and its impacts on the sustainable construction agenda.

This study compares the planning policy climates in the UK, Australia, USA, France, Germany and Sweden, and the impacts these could have on sustainable construction. This work also uses the findings from the scoping study commissioned by the National Platform into the area of reduced resource consumption (see Related links and downloads).
