Summary

Constructing Excellence champions the "Construction Resource Efficiency" (CoRE) project in the London region. The project is funded by the London Development Agency and includes a number of initiatives to reduce the amount of construction waste going to landfill.

As part of the CoRE project, Constructing Excellence is working with Wolseley, a large builder's merchant which has agreed to set aside part of their East Dulwich site to house five coloured skips for recycling. Wolseley customers will be encouraged to return the waste generated from small scale construction and refurbishment works to the Wolseley site for segregation. Wolseley will then organise for the segregated waste to be recycled.

This project will act as a pilot and if successful will be rolled out across the country.

Outcomes

The project will result in a reduction of construction waste to landfill and, if successful, will be rolled out across Wolseley sites nationally
