Investors in People is a national standard which sets a level of good practice for the continuous development of people, to improve the business performance.
Investors in People provide a framework for improving business performance which involves setting and communicating business objectives and developing people to meet these objectives. Essentially, using this technique means your company's needs are matched to what your people can do and are motivated to do.
The Investors in People standard is being used as a business development tool by thousands of organisations across the UK. It was developed more than 10 years ago by the business community to make organisations more competitive through effective communication, focused planning and action, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
The Investors in People Standard is based on four key principles:
These four key principles are a cyclical process and are broken down into 12 indicators, against which organisations wishing to be recognised as an Investor in People will be assessed.
The journey towards achieving IiP is a continuous process. It does not stop with initial recognition. Circumstances in the business world are always changing. Successful businesses are those that can respond to that change.
