Changing Education

New ways of working, ongoing partnerships and new technologies all require people and organisations with the skills to deliver them. As improvements are introduced throughout the construction industry, it has become obvious that universities and the built environment courses they offer must equally progress. However to do so successfully, they require full collaboration with the companies that will ultimately employ the students - in providing input to the courses and offering work-based experience and learning.

Skills shortages have driven companies to find new sources of talent; clients who want to see their investment in an area bring long term benefits have led to different ways of investing in people. Case studies listed under related documents to the right highlight how companies have successfully addressed these areas.

Most of this section promotes the activity of ACBEE (Accelerating Change in Built Environment Education) which forms an important part of the accelerating change agenda being driven by the Strategic Forum for Construction.
