- Why I am involved in G4C:
- I have been involved in G4C since early 2008. I have a genuine passion for the industry and would like to play a part in transforming it into one that focuses on providing efficient value led solutions for clients. I believe there has never been such an exciting time to join the industry. It provides opportunities beyond most other industries on a truly global scale. The industry will not be operating in the future as it is today, it will evolve and improve. Everyone who enters the industry has the prospect of being an important part of making the change. Being involved in G4C provides access to senior people within the industry who G4C members are able to influence with their ideas. It also provides a network of like-minded professionals that will support G4C members career development.

- Name:
- Chris Davies
- Company/Role(s):
- Structural Engineer, BuroHappold
- Qualifications:
- I felt compelled to enter the construction industry to put to practice the skills and theory I'd acquired after studying Architectural Engineering at the University of Leeds. The company I joined was Buro Happold consulting engineers where I decided to specialise in structural engineering. I've genuinely enjoyed my experience so far and have recently witnessed the public opening of my first project, a new build Academy.
- Why I am involved in G4C:
- I became involved with G4C to work with fellow professionals in organising cross industry activities and events. I felt that the industry lacked a starting point for newcomers who wanted to keep broad perspective, through G4C I hope that we can provide this platform for the next generation.

- Name:
- Mark Simmonds
- Company/Role(s):
- Development Project Manager, Westfield Shoppingtowns Ltd
- Qualifications:
-
I graduated from Loughborough University in 2005 with a BSc in Architectural Engineering and Design Management with a Diploma in Industrial Studies. I spent 1 year of my sandwich degree working as a Year-out Trainee for a main contractor in construction. Currently, I work for Westfield Shoppingtowns. This is an internally managed, vertically integrated shopping centre group, undertaking ownership, development, design, construction, funds and asset management, property management, leasing and marketing.
The role of the Project Manager involves integrating and managing different disciplines and expertise, to satisfy the objectives and provisions of the project brief from inception to completion. Working with such a diverse group of stakeholders across different disciplines is one of the key attractions of the role for me. Additionally great satisfaction is derived from being involved from start to finish realising the earliest feasibility study and conceptual study in the form of a tangible built product.
- Why I am involved in G4C:
- G4C provides a great opportunity for young like minded industry professionals to make a difference. There is so much great work being undertaken and its great to bring this together and share ideas with people from other parts of the industry. There are no barriers and no idea is a bad idea!

- Why I am involved in G4C:
- I joined G4C because I feel strongly about helping individuals establish themselves in the built environment for a career as it has so many fantastic opportunities. Also, G4C provides a platform where all young professionals can come together to discuss issues which are meaningful to them, having their voices heard, whilst providing an opportunity to mix with a wide range of young professionals from a multitude of disciplines.
