A major new 3-4 year project started by RCF with the Open University Business School (led by Richard Holti) and funded by EPSRC/DTI to a total value of £900,000.
The project will address trading relationships and commercial agreements, financial management, and information management.
It seeks to develop guidance tools and processes for a range of commercial practices.
Solutions will include a framework for analysing and describing costs, a methodology for measuring joint perfomance, and a portfolio of commercial frameworks and agreements to support collaboration.
The basis for the project is again Building Down Barriers, which as well as the benefits (which led to the DBF's involvement) revealed big challanges particularly concerning commercial aspects of collaborative working.
Entitled "Integrated supply chains in construction: challenges for commercial practice", the project addresses three areas for improving commercial practices:
