Why does Constructing Excellence have a registration scheme?
There are several reasons why we ask people to register:
- Documents can be downloaded from this site free of charge. However some of the organisations we work with charge us for each download. We do not pass this charge on to you, but the log-on process enables us to track the downloads, and collect the data for accounting purposes.
- We aim to have a balanced cross-section of users who accurately reflect the full spectrum of the industry. We need to know certain information about our users, to assess which groups or types of organisations are using the website. This helps us to work more effectively, and give organisations information relevant to their needs. We can then target our audience more accurately, and improve the services we offer.
- As a government-funded organisation we are publicly accountable for the way our budget is spent. We must demonstrate our effectiveness in a number of areas including: the level of usage of our website, and the impact we have on users of our services. The registration process helps us to gather statistics to measure our effectiveness, and respond to government requests for information.
What does Constructing Excellence do with the information collected?
Why do we request personal information from you? The following explains the privacy policy for Constructing Excellence website:
- Username, Password - to allow unique identification for you to logon to the website and retrieve your own data and assessments when using the tools available on this website. This will also allow you to download and use a wide variety of documents, case studies, fact sheets, guides and tools.
- Name, Job Title, Company Address, Post Code - to allow us, our partners and other organisations selected by Constructing Excellence to send you best practice guidance and information if this option has been chosen.
- Email Address
- To allow us to email you your password.
- To allow us to send you the monthly e-newsletter if this option has been chosen.
- To allow us and our partners and other organisations selected by Constructing Excellence to send you up-to-date best practice guidance and information by email if this option has been chosen.
- Telephone Number - to allow us to contact you from time to time to obtain a better understanding of the types and needs of people and organisations who are using our services, or to contact you if we identify a problem with your website registration.
- Position in Company, Region, Company Activities, Company Size - to allow us, our partners and other organisations selected by Constructing Excellence to send you the most suitable information and also to create aggregate information, which we analyse to assist with developing and improving our services and reporting to the Department of Trade and Industry.
- How did you hear about us?- to allow us to plan and improve our marketing strategy.
The data entered via the Best Practice Explorer is also stored in a secure area of the Constructing Excellence server which is password protected. The data is viewed and analysed exclusively by Constructing Excellence staff solely for the purpose of gaining an aggregate view of the use of the tool and to invite feedback based on information about its use.
Your data will only be used for the purposes as stated above and will be treated in confidence. We may send you other information that might be of interest to you. We will not sell, rent, or lease your personally identifiable information to others. However, we may share your data with our partners and other organisations selected by Constructing Excellence, for authorised purposes only. We will not disclose it to any third parties, unless we are required to, or permitted to by law, or where you have given us your consent in advance.
Information is recorded in session cookies, which are small text files that identify your computer (not you personally) to our server, and are used by many web sites. The information is recorded when you login to the web site and gives you access to parts of the web site that require you to login.
