Constructing Excellence in your Region
South East
The South East Centre for the Built Environment (SECBE ) is responsible for the success of Constructing Excellence South East - a regional hub or focal point to drive dialogue and action through SE construction industry networks. Each network has the leverage to improve performance and competitiveness of industry supply chains and the companies and organisations the networks represent. SEEDA has invested £82,000 start-up funds because it recognizes the importance and potential benefits available in its drive to create a world class region through Sustainable Development.
Through the collaborative pro-activity of these networks, construction innovation and best practice principles will help large and small businesses achieve the 10-20% year-on-year performance improvement targets contained in Rethinking Construction (1998) and Accelerating Change (2002) reports. As such, its framework for action will address: Client Leadership, Integrated teams and supply chains, and People. Specifically it will:
- Be the strategic catalyst for networks to promote and embed construction innovation and best practice principles to enable construction organisations to deliver change and improve business improvement sustainably.
- Apply the knowledge and levers through identified key networks to target and effect greatest change - based on Porter's cluster mapping model. Co-ordinate engagement, then action by industry, clients & government to improve construction performance.
- Act as a Knowledge base & consultation vehicle for industry & clients on SE regional issues affecting performance & competitiveness. Provide integrated mechanisms to support organisations undergoing change and means of communicating.
- Showcase innovations in products and processes to highlight best practice across the SE Investigate and establish regional procurement and environmental best practice units Support & deliver appropriate national strategic networks and visions for industry over the longer term.
