East of England Partnership to develop the supply chain

Constructing Excellence in the East of England is working with BRE, Inspire East, Build East, ConstructionSkills, Renewables East, CWC, CCG, AUEE and Smartlife to put together a combined programme to work with the industries clients to reach the large numbers of small companies in the supply chain. Significant levels of help are planned with tools to improve supply chain performance. Triple bottom line performance improvements are planned while protecting business during the hard times and opening low carbon growth opportunities. Government funding is being sought to make the programme possible.

East of England Construction Training Awards 2009

This year Constructing Excellence in the East of England is working with Construction Skills. Where categories fit the winners from the region will be entered into the Constructing Excellence national awards.

Preparations for the 2009 ceremony have begun. The event will take place on 1st October 2009 at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Stansted and will be attended by Sir Michael Latham, Chairman of ConstructionSkills.  The event will culminate in presentations to award winners in twelve categories.

A Carbon trust report on small scale wind energy says “Turbines in some rural locations could provide cheaper electricity than the grid, but it appears that in many urban situations, roof-mounted turbines may not pay back their embedded carbon emissions.” click
