The Gloucestershire Constructing Excellence Club Has Arrived
Gloucestershire's new Club will be a great success! 20th January saw the beginning of what promises to be a long and prosperous life for the Club. 90 representatives of the local construction industry, from sub contractors, contractors and builders to lawyers, surveyors and engineers, attended its inaugural general meeting in Gloucestershire County Council's Shire Hall.
In the chair was Alan Mossman of Consultancy Rubicon Associates. A presentation from Andrew Carpenter, Bristol CE Club Secretary, was followed by speeches from local industry representatives: Andrew Jarvis, client; Mark Smith, sub contractor; Simon Carey, main contractor and Andrew Covell, consultant. At an open forum, led by David Cartwright of Cartwright Surveyors, delegates were asked how they hoped to benefit from joining. Their views were noted to ensure the Club's aims were agreed by all.
Since the event, delegates have already offered support as members and the Club's future at the heart of Gloucestershire's construction industry is looking bright. Its official launch will take place in April. Until then, the new Club committee will work to raise the Club's profile even further.
