New IT Partners

The IT Construction Forum now has a number of IT Partners from the IT industry.

Ribbon Robin Wilkin, Operations Director of MPS, the first IT Partner of The IT Construction Forum, believes that their Contract Change Management (CCM) solution can help facilitate innovation through collaborative working.

The first IT company to sign up to a partnership agreement to provide guidance to our members, was Management Process Systems MPS now joined by O2 (a member of Constructing Excellence), and Mobile Computing Systems. We hope to be joined by more companies from the IT industry in the next few months. They will provide our members with free guidance in the IT Focus section of the website as well as free events, case studies and other material and services to help our members improve the use of IT in their firms. We will try to tell you about each of our partners as they start to work with us.

MPS - using a process management IT solution to facilitate innovation through collaborative working

Enabling collaborative innovation is a formidable task when working with teams brought together from diverse organisations to work on a project in an ever-changing environment. High value solutions result from cutting across organisational boundaries and bringing the best people and the best skills together. Robin Wilkin, Operations Director of MPS, the first IT Partner of The IT Construction Forum, believes that their Contract Change Management (CCM) solution can help facilitate innovation through collaborative working.

Key benefits of using a process management IT solution in a construction project include timely agreement of change, quality-assured contract administration, high visibility to all parties, reduced risk, and early completion of the final account. Robin Wilkin adds that users can focus on the construction project, in the knowledge that the technology is being looked after by experts.

CCM is delivered as a web service and supports the ECC form of contract with software designed and developed by MPS using IBM middleware. The process has been used in a range of construction projects including Heathrow Terminal 5, the Cross Channel Tunnel Rail Link, and a number of Highways Agency projects.

The IT Construction Forum will shortly publish a case study showing how WSP Group plc used the system to assist with contract management, supervision and administration of the construction of the Highways Agency's Eastern Regional Control Centre (ERCC) at South Mimms. The project team were able to improve contract administration efficiency and gain remote access to the overall financial state of the contract linked to changes on a real time basis. This was particularly beneficial for the client's project sponsor, design team and other stakeholders who were remote from the construction site.

With Pavone AG, headquartered in Germany, MPS expect to expand on a wide range of collaborative solutions in areas such as process modelling and simulation, project control, sales and customer management, document management, email management and customised process support software.

You will be able to get guidance on process management IT solutions from the new MPS micro-site to be launched in the IT Focus section of The IT Construction Forum website in September.
