Constructing Excellence Awards: North East

2008 Winners

We would like to congratulate all the winners from this year’s Constructing Excellence in the North East Awards, which took place on the 9th May 2008.

Integration & Collaborative Working

For achieving impressive customer satisfaction scores and ensuring a collaborative approach in everything they do, this award went to Erimus Housing, Dunelm Property Services, Rok Group & Erimus Building Services for The Erimus Partnership.

Highly Commended: Seymour Civil Engineering, Mott MacDonald and Northumbrian Water for the Shiremoor Flood Relief Scheme.

Commended: Faithful & Gould, Surgo Construction, Cundall and Bishop Auckland College for Phase One of the college redevelopment.

Commended: Frank Haslam Milan, Morrison Facilities Services and Gateshead Local Environmental Services for the Gateshead Housing Company Partnership.

Leadership & People Development

For demonstrating a comprehensive programme of individual and team training needs analysis, support for appropriate staff development and an evaluation system to measure the impact of such training – Frank Haslam Milan.

The Legacy Award – Sustainability

For a building which fully encompasses the three principles of sustainability, particularly for delivering a sustainable legacy which will inspire and contribute to the regeneration of the area - Northumbria University’s City Campus East Development.

Highly Commended: Jane Darbyshire & David Kendall and Rivergreen Developments for The Wynd in Amble.

Innovation

For a sustainable development, which has enhanced the local community through an innovative approach to the use of a Section 106 Agreement combined with an innovative use of technologies – Jubilee Terrace, Mickleton submitted by Three Rivers Housing.

Highly Commended: Seymour Civil Engineering Contractors, Mott MacDonald and Northumbrian Water for the Shiremoor Flood Relief Scheme.

Value

For delivering owner and end user satisfaction through a well developed strategy and involving users in the development – Turner & Townsend and Northumbria University for the City Campus East Development.

Commended: Robertson Construction, Newcastle and North Tyneside LIFT Company, B3 Architects and White Young Green for the Shiremoor Service Centre.

Health & Safety

For submitting an excellent project that took forward the ethos of CDM with early appointments of the duty holders, full integration of the design team and contractor, and in depth involvement of the local community to ensure that health and safety was a leading driver for the project - The Gentoo Group.

Client of the Year

For showing exemplary commitment and leadership in its pursuit of excellence in managing staff resources, engaging with its customers and adherence to Egan principles of partnering and business conduct – The Erimus Partnership consisting of Erimus Housing, Dunelm Property Services, Rok Group and Erimus Building Services.

The Achiever’s Award

A special individual award for outstanding achievement in the industry was presented to Lynda Peacock, director of development and regeneration at Three Rivers Housing.

Project of the Year

For demonstrating focus and drive to work with the community and the client’s willingness and determination to involve their supply chain – Sunderland City Council, Birse Civils and Arup for the Sunderland Southern Radial Route.

Highly Commended: Northumbrian Water, Seymour Civil Engineering Contractors and Mott MacDonald for the Shiremoor Flood Relief Scheme.
